Sixteen miles off the coast of North Carolina, in 73 meters of water, lies the wreck of the Civil War ironclad USS Monitor. The National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA), assisted by the U.S. Navy, The Mariners' Museum, and other organizations, is embarking on an ambitious series of expeditions designed to save this historic vessel.\n\nExpedition Site\n
