Polar Challenge: Solo to the South Pole
01 December 2003
There are few remaining challenges left in Antarcica, but one is to reach the South Pole the hard way - to walk all 700 miles completely alone & without support. It means towing a 300-pound sledge 65 days across the highest, coldest and most remote continent on Earth. One lady about to attempt this feat is 37 year old polar veteran Fiona Thornewill.\n\nExpedition Site\n
