Peary Centennial
Day 7 - 5.4 n.mi.
11 March 2009
The team phoned in today to report good progress and warm conditions. What a difference a few days can make! They've gone from -50 F a few days ago to -19 F today. The warmer temps have also brought weather, and currently they are in a bit of a storm with low visibility. Yet they managed to make 5.4 nautical miles in 6.5 hours - their best mileage yet, and they are tired!

They started in rough ice this morning, moved into moderate ice, and now they are on large pans which should make for decent traveling conditions, especially if the weather does not deteriorate. Everyone is in good spirits and they report that all is good with their food and equipment. They are especially happy with their Primaloft sleeping bags and clothing, which kept them warm even in the coldest temperatures.
