Exactly one year ago today, Lonnie Dupre and I were standing on the geographic North Pole, the top of the world. After 62 of the most difficult traveling conditions I could have ever imagined and nearly four years of planning and preparations, we accomplished what many thought was impossilbe - a summer style journey to the North Pole.

Exactly one year ago today, a polar bear wandered in our camp. It was an experience that I will never forget. For one, coming face to face with a polar bear is always a bit disconcerting to say the least. However, with warming in the Arctic occurring over four times that of the rest of the planet, just to see a polar bear (while they are still alive) was an incredible experience.

Exactly one year ago today, I had no real idea where I might be one year into the future. Looking back now, I am amazed at the path my life has taken. For so long all my life had been water and ice and ice and water. And while, I am still focused on far away frozen goals, I seem to find more time for friends and family... and sitting in chairs for sure.
