Hey! you forgot to mention I directed you to a good eating place in Clarendon, Texas and the station owner first doubted you had paid for the "petro', even though you had the receipt!!! Laughing! One skeptic even doubted that was a row boat!!

Hi Roz... yah, that's the right attitude. I used to have to remind myself of that on the bike; the trick was to get in the habit of pretending that I had never heard the question before, brightening and answering with enthusiasm when someone asked what I do in the rain or how fast it goes. Always opened doors, and softened anyone with an aggressive tone.
Sometimes, of course, the questions WERE one-of-a-kind... like the guy who gestured at the BEHEMOTH control console and asked: "So, does

Mmm ... reminds me of back when I used to work on cruise ships. Then, the question was always ... "how does my daughter /niece /granddaughter /other related female ... get a job like yours?". Thanks, Roger, for the eating recommendation. "Nuttin' Special" was, in fact, quite special. The food was good, but even better for me as a foreigner was the opportunity to see cowboys swaggering in for their bacon and eggs.

Steve - very interesting question. I'm sure it could be interpreted as a sign of our times (who is in charge - us or the computers?) or as a query into your philosophical quest... or there again, maybe it was just a dumb question!!
